American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) was signed into law by President Barack Obama on February 17, 2009. The ARRA is a wide-ranging effort to jumpstart the weakened economy and to lay the groundwork for developing an economy that will be able to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

Wisconsin Office of Recovery and Reinvestment

Governor Doyle created the Wisconsin Office of Recovery and Reinvestment to ensure that Wisconsin projects are fully considered for funding by the federal stimulus legislation. This new office is monitoring the ARRA’s provisions and timetables and how they will impact state projects and programs.

In addition to providing funds to state-administered programs, the federal stimulus legislation also provides funding to many programs and initiatives that will be directly awarded by the federal government to Tribal governments.  While the State of Wisconsin does not administer or award any portion of these programs, Governor Doyle continues outreach efforts to make sure that both the state and Tribal governments get their fair share of the stimulus funds.

Specific information on these programs, along with more detailed descriptions of the programs and, in certain instances, additional links and contact information, can be found online at http://recovery.wisconsin.gov. Tribal governments are eligible to participate in many ARRA programs. Click here for a document entitled Potential Tribal Stimulus Programs, which lists all of the ARRA programs where Tribal governments are eligible applicants.

Additional information on the ARRA with both Tribal and more general information can be found at:
